chapter 1

"...128 is slow at 38, and the Mass Pike is backed up from Star Market to Newton Corner", the voice crackled over the radio. Good grief, will they ever get it right? I'm sitting in Framingham, staring at bumper attached to the car in front of me that hasn't moved in 10 minutes. I never realized Netwon Corner stretched all the way through Needham, Wellesley, Natick, and into Framingham.

It's like that every morning. Only half of the report is ever correct. Must drive people crazy! Who cares. I just want to get to work.

As the 28 seconds that the station so graciously dedicates to traffic lapses and moves on to prank calling some poor schmuck working at a service station, I switch the radio off and stomp on the gas darting into a sliver that opens up in the lane to the left of me. Who came up with this mess of a road?
